Gulf Medical Expo a big draw

Manama : The three-day Gulf Medical Exhibition 2016 being held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre here is a big draw with thousands of visitors participating in the show.

Organised under the patronage of President of the Supreme Council for Health (SCH) Lt-Gen Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the exhibition witnessed 100 exhibitors showcasing their healthcare products and services. Organised by Ajyal Consultations, in collaboration with New Line, the exhibition has attracted thousands of visitors from all over Bahrain as well as other GCC countries, said Chairman and Chief Executive of Ajyal Consultations Captain Mahmood Al Mahmood. He said that the event witnessed 4000 visitors on the first two days and more than 2000 people are expected to participate on Friday.

“The idea behind this event was to bring all the medical service providers in the Kingdom and in the region together on the same platform. It was a unique opportunity for visitors to find the right healthcare provider that they needed, it was also a platform for service providers to exchange ideas or form partnerships. Most of the exhibitors here were from Bahrain but there were a few from countries such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia,” he told DT News.

“One of the attraction at the event was a Kuwaiti national who is practicing traditional Arabic medicine. People were impressed by his thorough knowledge in traditional medicine. Various types of healthcare providers are exhibiting, including service providers and vendors of medical equipment,” he said, adding, “one of the things that attracted people was the raffle draw that we organised. We had many attractive prizes on offer such as laptops, smartphones gadgets etc.”

He said that the event’s next edition next year could be an international one. “A few days ago a Chinese as well as a Korean health care provider was keen to join this event. Unfortunately, it was too late for us to register them.  However, they have conveyed their intention to join us next time. We are hoping to have the event next year even bigger with a bigger participation.”

Gulf Health Services Sales Manager Soncy Cherian said that he was delighted by the turnout at the event. “I am thrilled to be here at this event, the organisers have done a great job. I am keen to see more of these kinds of events in Bahrain,” he said. Sharing a similar view, House Of Uniforms Assistant General Manager Cyril Joseph said, “We had a lot of people coming in on the first and second day and we are sure that it will continue on the final day. There were a lot of interest from the visitors in our products so we are glad that we have taken part in this exhibition,” Global Consultancy House Sales and Biomedical Engineer Mohamed Ashik said he hopes that the turnout today exceeds that of the first two days.
