Former Mp’s trial adjourned

ManamaThe trial of a former MP accused of financing a terrorist group that murdered two police officers has been adjourned until January 16, 2017 by the High Criminal Court. 

Al Wefaq Islamic Society member Hassan Isa is standing trial with 23 Bahraini defendants in  connection with murdering two cops during an attack in Sitra last year.  Isa is accused of providing financial support to the defendants to carry out their acts.

The victims were killed in a bomb attack on a bus carrying policemen of the Sitra police station.  The explosion caused the death of the two officers, while inuring six others.

The defendants have been indicted of forming and operating a terrorist group against the law, murdering police officers, attempting to murder six other policemen, possessing explosives, detonating a bomb, training using weapons and bombs for terrorist purposes, according to Chief prosecutor of the Terror Crimes Prosecution  Ahmed Al Hammadi.  

However,  only twelve of the defendants are in police custody including Isa. The rest of their co-defendants are still at large.
