Robbery: Jail terms reduced
Manama : Two men convicted of theft have had their jail terms reduced to one year each in prison on appeal. They were earlier handed down three years each in prison.
The duo reportedly stole a wallet with BD7 in cash and a bank credit card. The defendants also reportedly withdrew BD1000 using the card. The victim reported the crime to police after receiving messages from the bank stating that BD1000 was withdrawn from his account in two attempts, BD500 each.
“I searched for my wallet after receiving the two SMS and I discovered that it was stolen,” the victim said. Police discovered the identity of the duo after reviewing the footage of the CCTV cameras of the bank. The defendants were held guilty on grounds of robbery and forgery.
