Selling gun for drug: Man gets prison

ManamaThe High Criminal Court has sentenced a 34-year-old man to six years in prison along with BD1500 fine for attempting to exchange an arm gun for 13 grams of shabu.

According to court files, the authorities received a tip off about a man in search of  a buyer for his Kalashnikov gun. An undercover agent contacted and offered him 13 grams of shabu in exchange of the gun. The defendant, nicknamed “Misho Troubles”, accepted the offer and agreed to meet.

Police officers nabbed him shortly after the deal took place. Police also found in the defendant’s possession a magazine containing 28 bullets. A box including 75 bullets from the same gun were  also unearthed from his home.

The defendant was also tested positive of hashish. “I took the gun  from my cousin with the intention of selling it as it was worth almost BD800. Someone called me and he offered to exchange with 13 grams of shabu instead of money and I agreed. I have been consuming hashish since 1997,” the defendant told prosecutors.
