BOC to host FIVB Volleyball U-19 next summer

ManamaAssistant secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) and general secretary of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, assured BOC its readiness to host the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship next summer.

Askar pointed that upon the directives of His Majesty the King’s representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of BOC HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the continuous cooperation and coordination by BOC with the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) to be fully prepared to host the event.

This came after Askar had met with the general secretary of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and Thai member board member of Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), Shanrit Wongprasert to assess Bahrain’s preparations to host the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship. 

Present at the meeting were BOC board member Ali Isa Izhaki, BVA Vice-President, Jehad Hassan Khalfan, general secretary of the BVA, Firas Al-Halwachi, and BVA board member Mohammed Ahmed Al-Thawadi.

Askar welcomed the guest and wished him success in his mission stressing the readiness of the BOC to meet any request of the FIVB in regards to hosting the event and assuring Bahrain is keen to make the event a success.

The AVC general secretary expressed his satisfaction over the infrastructure of Bahrain to host the event and admiration of the near two main courts that will host the event which, he said, will facilitate it for fans and media to be present and follow up the event. 

He also expressed satisfaction of the administrative process within the BVA and AVC.

Askar presented Wongprasert with a souvenir from the BOC and wished him a pleasant stay in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
