Court begins hearing on IS informer case
Manama : The High Criminal Court heard the case of a 23-year-old Bahraini man who is accused of providing Islamic State (IS) members with information about Bahraini police officers in order to attack them.
It is believed that the defendant was an informer for IS members fighting in conflict zones. He collected addresses and names of police officers in the Ministry of Interior, according to court files.
The defendant is a cousin of IS member Turki Al Binali whose brother was
earlier sentenced to 15 years jail for alleged IS connections.
The defendant was arrested on August 20 this year, and military equipment, guns’ magazines and an armour were unearthed from his house.
He reportedly attempted to travel to fight alongside IS, but could not go as he was in the travel ban list.
