Overcoming disability to win medal

ManamaFighting disability, and displaying his exceptional talent, grit and determination, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) employee Jassim Janahi won a medal at the Spartan Race Arabia, one of the world’s toughest and most challenging endurance races, in Sharjah.

The race consists of 30 unique obstacles, including climbing, crawling, and running through unknown terrain, such as water pools, mud tracks, barriers and fire.

Commenting on the achievement, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said such accolades in sports and other field  testimony to GPIC’s commitment to encouraging the employees  to be competitive and creative in whatever they do.

“This achievement is special since Janahi, who is an individual with special needs, required additional efforts and commitment to achieve the feat. He made sure the flag of Bahrain flew high at the event, making him, his Company and his Country proud in the sporting world,” he said adding that Janahi is an example of how Bahraini youth seek success and achievement in spite of their physical disabilities and other challenges.

The Executive Management, guided by the Board of Directors, also expressed pride in the achievement.

The obstacle race not only tests the contestant’s ability, endurance, patience and perseverance but also their mental strength.
