Terror cell involved in attack: Ministry
Manama : The Ministry of Interior yesterday confirmed the connection of a terrorist cell in the prison attack.
“A terrorist cell of four to six members, armed with automatic rifles and pistols, was involved in an attack on the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre (Jau),” the ministry said in a statement.
The attack which took place at approximately 5:30am yesterday resulted in the escape of 10 inmates who were all held on terrorism charges. A committee was formed by Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to investigate the incident.
The public prosecution was notified about the attack.
