‘Full French experience’ promised for visitors

Manama : A plethora of activities that highlight French innovation, culture and lifestyle has been planned for the French Week titled ‘So French’ to be held  from January 18 to 23, according to French Ambassador Bernard Regnauld- Fabre.

The Ambassador, who was the guest speaker at a meeting of the  Rotary Club of Sulmaniya held at the  Capital Club yesterday announced that “So French” will focus on four main areas namely technology, lifestyle, tourism and infrastructure. 

“‘So French’ will embrace the familiar as well as the less familiar aspects of French culture,” he said.

‘We will be welcoming a high-level delegation of  senators, along with business and tourism delegates from the Alsace region in France.  Alsace is known for their strong and extremely effective support of SMEs, world-renowned craftsmen, gastronomy and historical and cultural sites, which we look forward to introducing to the public,” he said, adding that the Head Chef from an Alsace based three Michelin Star restaurant will also be featured during the event.

Celebrated musician Yasmine Hamadan will be performing at the Cultural Hall on January 19. Yet another attraction will be Maia Flore’s  photographic exhibition titled “Imagine France” which will take place at the Bahrain Financial Harbour.  

French painter Aimé Venel’s works will be on display at the Jawad Dome. 

An educational seminar which show influences of expressionist art and romanticism will take place at Sofitel Bahrain from 9am to 2pm on January 23. 

One of the world’s leading fashion designers, Christian Louboutin, will be visiting the Kingdom on the sidelines of the French Week. A gala dinner will be hosted in his honour, taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on the 20th January. He will also be making a special appearance at Saks Fifth Avenue on the 21st January.  

“So French” week will be organised in collaboration with Alliance Française, Atout France, The French Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Bahrain and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, as well as specialist professionals from the French business community in Bahrain.
