First round win for Parmar

ManamaTop seed Sparsh Parmar won his first round match 6-0, 6-1 against Gaurish Kadian in the first round of the Boys Singles 12 years and under category on the opening day of the Fifth E.K.Kanoo Junior Open Tennis Championship at the Bahrain Tennis Club (BTC) premises in Juffair.

Second seed Sairaghavan Balakrishnan also advanced with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kylianne Herve, while Fares Hajjar was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Mohammed Kamran and Mohammed Al Huda got the better of Anirudh Sai Krishna 6-0, 6-1.

In what was touted as the most competitive round, Abdulla Nass had to work hard to win against Erwin Godinho 6-3, 6-3, while Mathias Hopman was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Krishna Tilani.

Mohammed Al Shehabi won 6-0, 6-0 over Vineesh Mittal and Yousef Fares received a walkover win against Aiston D’Souza.

Over 100 junior players were participating in the tournament. A Unisex mini tennis festival gets underway on Thursday with qualifiers in the 9-10 years age group, while the competition proper in this category and the 6-8 years will take place on Friday and conclude on Saturday.
