ManamaAseem Khaled was the star performer yesterday as he defeated top seeded Isa Al Qattan following a 2-1 games retirement and in the Round of 16, a 6-2 win over Mahika Pathak in the Unisex 9-10 years category in the Fifth E.K.Kanoo Junior Open Tennis Championship at the Bahrain Tennis Club (BTC) premises in Juffair.

The second seed Rohan Mukherjee advanced to the quarter finals following his 8-0 win over Yousef Wael Elmoslimany.

In the 6-8 years category Round of 16, top seed Yvom Gupta defeated Bochra Hajjar 4-0 and second seed Joshua Jacob won over Omar Zainal 4-0. The championship has had more than 100 players in the fray playing in six age categories. The event is being held under the patronage of E.K.Kanoo Board Member and Director of Corporate Services, Talal Fuad Kanoo. The championship concludes with the Boys Singles under-12 final between top seed Sparsh Parmar and Mathias Hopman at 5pm on January 19.
