Bahraini rider 3rd in Show Jumping
Manama : Bahraini rider Khalid Hilal Al Khateri qualified to the World Endurance Games which will be held in California, USA in 2018. He came third in the Grand Prix of Al Shira’aa International Equestrian Show 2017, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Jumping over 150-160cm hurdles, Al Khateri topped the podium’s last place of the 32-contestant competition following a stunning performance that saw him finishing the two rounds of the event flawlessly in 56.96 seconds on his horse Awal BDF. The event included riders from both genders. It’s worth noting that Al Shira’aa International Equestrian Show 2017 witnessed the participation of top international riders who contested in different competitions, including the final Grand Prix.
Winning first in the main event was French rider Adeline Hecart, while second place went to Saudi Arabian rider Khalid Al Murbati. Both finished without committing any fault.
After the race, Al Khateri expressed extreme happiness at winning third place, praising the support of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
“I am very proud of this achievement. It was realised after intense training and extreme hard work. The competition was very strong owing to the participation of top riders. I am very happy to be able to honour my country,” said Al Khateri.
