Bahrain extends support to Palestine

ManamaBahrain yesterday reiterated its support to the French peace initiative and all efforts for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa affirmed Kingdom’s support in establishing an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital, and urged the Israeli authorities to stop all settlement activities in occupied Palestinian territories.

The statements were made as Shaikh Khalid participated in the Paris peace conference held yesterday in France.

The Minister called upon the international community to support the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative and continue efforts to oblige the Israeli side to adhere to the peace process.

“These efforts can lead to a peaceful two-state solution and put an end to the occupation of Arab lands,” the minister said.

Around 70 countries attending talks in Paris called on the two sides to avoid moves that “prejudge the outcome of negotiations on final status issues, including Jerusalem and its borders”.
