Delicious French Week ends with Opera Dinner

ManamaFrench Week 2017 ended on a high note with an Opera Dinner at the Sofitel Hotel.  The event was attended by the patron Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and over 300 guests, who were entertained by opera singers from France.

Speaking at the closing Opera Dinner, Bernard Regnauld-Fabre, stated: “The 4th edition of French Week had over 25 events take place, all of which embraced the imprint of French innovation, culture and lifestyle in the many parts of everyday life here in Bahrain.

The weeklong celebration saw a packed schedule, including two art exhibitions that showcased the paintings of Aime Venel and photography of Maia Flore.

Over 500 music fans attended the concerts of Yasmine Hamdan and Gypsy Jazz; while a world premiere of the film, Dalida was also shown during the Week. The beautiful Orchestre de Chambre de Versailles, conducted by Anne-Claude Villard, performed at the Louboutin Gala dinner as well as for two consecutive days at Bahrain City Centre.

French food was also highlighted with over 10 gastronomy events taking place at venues around Bahrain, and promotions of French products at Lulu, Carrefour, Jawad, Géant and Al Jazira have also taken place.

An anchor event during French Week included the visit of iconic French fashion designer, Christian Louboutin. A Gala Dinner, with over 350 guests, was held in his honour at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.  During the evening a charity raffle also took place, raising over 1,300 Dinars for two local charities; the RIA Institute and the Down’s Syndrome Society.

The visit of a high-level delegation from Alsace in France, headed by André Reichardt, Senator of the Bas-Rhin and President of Access Alsace was also part of the event.

Over the weekend, shoppers were welcomed to the So French stand at Bahrain City Centre, which had a range of events, shows and more taking place, including three street artists specially flown from France, who enchanted the public with their juggling and acrobatic skills. A lucky winner from the mall also took home a Renault car, with the keys being handed over at last night’s Opera Dinner.
