Bahrain condemns Israeli planned settlements in Jerusalem
Manama : Bahrain has condemned Israel’s plans to build new settlement homes in occupied Jerusalem.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the Israeli occupation authorities’ approval of the construction of 566 new settler homes in occupied Jerusalem, affirming that this dangerous step reflects Israel’s adamant insistence to go ahead with its imposed settlement policies," the Ministry said in its statement today.
"The Ministry considers the move as challenging to the will of the international community, violating the brotherly Palestinian people’s rights and going contrary to international laws and norms."
"It also regards it as uncommitted to the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 which stipulates the halt of settlements in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, including East Jerusalem, considering it an impediment to all the efforts aimed to revive the peace process and the Israeli- Palestinian negotiations," the statement added.
"The Ministry calls for strong deterrent action by the International Community to compel Israel to immediately and completely halt all settlement activities and abide by the requirements of the Peace Process. This, it says, will establish permanent stability on the basis of the two-state solution and put an end to the Israeli occupation as well as it will lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian State on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant International Legitimacy resolutions."
