Haiwei Li bags Young Musician of the Gulf award
Manama : Haiwei Li from the British School of Kuwait was crowned the “Young Musician of the Gulf 2017” at the BSME YMOG 2017 competition held at Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa Hotel yesterday. Isabel Snass from Dubai College was the runner up.
Jawhara of St Christopher’s School was the ‘Young Musicians of the Gulf Overall Ensemble Winner’ whereas Mian Shahmir Samee was
titled ‘Young composer of the Gulf’.
Zoe Martlew, Tansy Davies, and Ashley Wass from UK were the judges of the event.
Ed Goodwin principal of St. Christopher school, Simon Martin, British ambassador to Bahrain, Usman Ahmed CEO of City Bank, Sami Boukhalid GM Sofitel, Ahlam A’ameer Director of Private Education, Ministry of Interior were also present during the awarding ceremony.
This year, 136 students from seven schools from across the region took part in this prestigious competition including the British School Al Khubairat, British School Kuwait, Doha British School, Dubai College, Jumeirah College, Sharjah English School and St Christopher’s School.
