Police officer shot dead in Bahrain
Manama: An off-duty police officer was shot and killed in Bilad Al Qadeem today. The police officer is identified as Hisham Al Hammadi was killed while he was at his farm in Bilad Al Qadeem. It is said terrorists fired four bullets at him. Heavy security deployment is seen in the area. According to sources the martyr is from a renowned Bahraini family Al Hammadi. Security forces closed all entrances to Bilad al Qadeem, located south of capital Manama. Meanwhile, security troops were heavily deployed inside the area.
The terrorist group, Saraya Al Ashtar has claimed responsibility for the attack. Members of the Saraya Al Ashtar group are accused of receiving weapons and explosives training in Iraq and carrying out terror attacks in Bahrain using high-grade explosives, resulting in the death and injury of several policemen and innocent civilians. The terrorist group is accused of carrying out several bomb attacks between 2013 and 2015, with blasts occurring in Sanabis, Daih, Shakhoora, Maqsha, Diraz, Hamad Town and a shopping mall.
This is the second policeman being killed by terrorists in Bahrain this year. Earlier this month ten convicts escaped after killing a guard in Jau prison.
The Interior Ministry mourned on Sunday with deep grief, martyr First-Lt Hisham Hassan Mohammed Al Hamadi who was shot dead in Bilad Al Qadeem.
Police responded to the crime scene and took the necessary legal steps and the Public Prosecution was notified. Initial details indicate that it was a terrorist act. The deceased was not on-duty at the time of the shooting.
His Excellency Interior Minister on behalf of the Interior Ministry personnel expressed deep condolences to the family of the martyr and all Bahrainis. May his soul rest in peace, and may God give patience to his family. To Allah we belong and to him we shall return.
