Henna turns Bahraini woman’s hand blue

Manama : A Bahraini woman has alleged that a pack each of henna and cedar she bought from a stall at the Bahrain Autumn Fair has turned her hands blue.

The complaint was brought to the attention of the Consumer Protection Directorate of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism through social media.

She said that when she mixed the products with water, her hand turned a dark blue.

Upon receiving the complaint the inspectors from Directorate and the Health Ministry visited the Hardamout Spices and Yemeni Coffee stall at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre and took samples of the alleged products for testing.

The henna and cedar are used for hair colouring and appeared similar in packing, however, without proper content details, said an official from the Directorate.

The woman who bought the product told ministry officials that she could identify the product only through smell.

Traders from Yemen were selling these products at the Autumn Fair, Bahrain’s biggest annual consumer products exhibition, till February 2.
