Nassan eases into semis

Manama : Umm An Nassan defeated Qassar Al Qulay’ah 2-0 in Group A of the final round of the group matches to qualify for the semi-finals in the RJ Investments Holding Group Team Doubles Tennis Tournament 2017. The event under the patronage of Rashad Janahi, head of the group, is being held at the Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair. 

In the first rubber, Aziz Janahi and Mattar Yousuf edged out Hussain Nashaba and Sami Dannish 9-7 and Abdulrahman and Rafique Ghuloom got the better of Salman Hassan and Yousuf Khonji in the second rubber.

In Group C, Nurana beat Amwaj 2-0 to also book its place in the semi-finals following a first rubber win for Ali Al Asfoor and Issa Al Sammak by 9-4 over Emad Ali and Emanuel Bishay and then following up with Mohammed Mosawi and Venkat Subramaniyam winning 9-0 against Yousuf Fakhro and Faisal Sharaf.

The championship features 15 teams named after Bahrain’s islands split into three groups of five teams playing on a round-robin basis with the semi-finals set for today from 5.45pm with the three group winners - Umm An Nassan, Halat Nuaimi and Nurana qualifying along with Jedda the best of the second placed teams.

The final match is set for Saturday starting at 6pm.
