Students warned of joining unauthorised courses
Manama : Educational authorities in the country have been warned students of enrolling unlicensed courses abroad.
The warning follows Higher Education Council’s General Secretariat recently detected a number of advertisements promoting academic programmes abroad by directly approaching students, without adhering to the Kingdom’s regulatory and legal procedures.
“Students should be cautious before following such advertisements that promote unauthorised programmes. The council will not approve any certificates that were obtained illegally and by violating the regulations,” Higher Education Council General Secretary Dr. Abdulghani Al Showaikh has said in a statement.
“Students shouldn’t get involved in such unlicensed academic programmes. They are advised to consult with the concerned officials in the council’s General Secretariat or the Universities Information Centre so that they could be informed about the accurate information regarding such programmes,” he added.
DT News reported last year that an increase in the number of advertisements promoting academic programmes and scholarships has been noticed on local social media networks. Some pages were also reportedly offering jobs in the Kingdom’s educational establishments.
