Jawad mini marathon on February 17

ManamaThe 10th Annual Jawad Mini Marathon will take place in Budaiya highway with the tagline ‘Run or Walk for the Cause’ on February 17 under the patronage of Northern Governor Ali Al Shaikh Abdul Hussein Al Asfoor, said the organisers at a press conference yesterday. 

Jawad Business Group’s annual mini marathon has steadily built up a reputation over the years for the causes it support and the interest it has generated. This year the Group aims to use the event to spotlight Autism Spectrum Disorder, which is prevalent in the country. All proceeds from the race will be donated to Bahrain Autistic Society, a charity organisation that aims to raise the community awareness about autism disorder and to encourage volunteer work to support autistic children. 

Those who are interested can register online at www.jawadminimarathon.com  till February 16 with BD1 fee for children under 16 years and BD2 for adults.

There will be 3 categories: 5km, 8km and a walkathon of 5km. They are divided into different age groups starting 9-years-old to 50-years-old for both men and women. This will allow all runners for a fair chance of winning. There will also be a category of handicapped participants. There will be more than 33 trophies for the winners and a raffle draw with more than 20 prizes to win. 

American Missions Hospital medical team will be present with their ambulance at the Jawad Dome on the day of the event to tackle any emergency. The course of the marathon will be clearly marked and there will be organisers at every track junction to direct the participants and provide them with water or medical help if necessary.
