Chopin steals the show at Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club

ManamaThird favourite Chopin owned by Maher Ebrahim Latfalla, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Alberto Sanna won one of the two richest races for HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister Cup, for imported three years and upwards over 2,000 metres and worth BD15,000 yesterday at the 14th meeting of the season at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.

In second place two lengths behind was Shogun owned by Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Pat Smullen, third place a further three quarter of a length behind was Sumeen owned by Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Jasmi, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Stephane Ladjadj, with fourth place a further three quarters of a length behind the second favourite Proposed owned by Ramadhan Stable, trained by Jaber Ramadhan and ridden by Stevie Donohie.

The other joint richest race also for the HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister Cup for locally bred three years and upwards at 4.20pm over 2,000 metres and worth BD15,000, was won by the favourite Metharyowned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Alberto Sanna.

In second place three quarters of a length behind was No Doubt owned by H and R Stables, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle, who was half a length of third favourite Farange owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Abdulla Faisal, while fourth place a length and three quarters behind was the second favourite Knight and Day owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Frankie Dettori.

The races were attended by Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Vice Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club and son of HRH the Crown Prince who presented trophies to the winning owners, trainers and jockeys.
