Nurana Island triumph
Manama : Nurana Island defeated Jedda Island 2-0 in the third place match of the of the RJ Investments Holding Group Team Doubles Tennis Tournament 2017 at the Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair, under the patronage and head of the group, Rashad Janahi.
In the first rubber, Ali Alasfoor and Isa Al Sammak defeated Ahmed Dhaif and Mohammed Sharaf 9-3 games to give Nurana the lead and Venkat Subramaniyam and Mohammed Mosawi followed on to beat Salah Janahi and Khalid Qayoom 9-2 to secure third place for Nurana.
The championship has featured 15 teams named after Bahrain’s islands split into three groups of five teams playing on a round-robin basis with the three group winners and best runner-up making up the semi-final line-up.
The final match between Umm an Nasan and Halat Nuaim is set for today starting at 5.45pm.
