Hijab Day in Bahrain
Manama: Discover Islam Bahrain is organising World Hijab Day (WHD) celebrations today in recognition of Muslim women who choose to wear the hijab and live a life of modesty. The on going event ‘Try it Yourself’ is being held at Silk Road Cultural Centre (Shop no 016) at Dragon City in Diyar Al Muharraq.
"The event further seeks to promote the little known fact that, while the hijab has come under very strong suspicion and scrutiny in the recent past, communities worldwide have failed to recognize or notice that the head cover and face cover have been a part of traditions and cultures in many parts of the world, both Arab and Non Arab, Muslim and Non Muslim throughout the centuries.
It has been associated with class, religion and culture and is therefore more of a universal attire for women than one specific to the Islamic faith.
In bringing this fact to light, Discover Islam hopes to cast doubt in the minds of hijab skeptics about the purpose and place of the hijab in a woman’s life," Discover Islam explained on their Facebook page.
