Schoolgirl molested in Bahrain is 'not pregnant'

Manama : Rumours that an expat schoolgirl, who was recently molested by her neighbour, was pregnant, is not true, it has emerged.

An Indian man has reportedly been arrested for raping the child when she was alone at her house. The 52-year-old was caught based on a complaint registered by the girl’s parents who were alerted by her school teachers.

The girl is studying in Class 5 in one of Bahrain's biggest community schools.

School officials confirmed the incident saying that the girl related the incident to her teacher who in turn took her to the school counselor.

After the girl confided the matter to the counselor, the school officials informed the parents who filed a police complaint.

The girl is the youngest of four children and recently moved to Bahrain from Qatar with her parents.

The accused is working with a company based in Manama and his employer told DT News they did not want to comment on the matter.

The man was staying in the same building in Um Al Hassam as the girl's and befriended her with chocolates and repeatedly molested her when her parents were away in the evenings.  

Interior Ministry is yet to comment on the incident.

Meanwhile an audio clip claiming to be that of a woman who stays in a nearby building is circulating in the social media. According to it, the girl is now pregnant which is not true, according to reliable sources.
