Princess Sabeeka receives Arab Woman Medal

Manama : The Arab League bestowed the Arab Woman Medal on Wife of His Majesty the King and Supreme Council for Women Chairwoman and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa at a meeting with Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit at Al Rawdha Palace
yesterday. 

The medal was awarded in tribute for her unrelenting and influential efforts to empower Arab women and ensure sustainable development of Bahraini women as well as maximize their development contributions. Participants of the 36th session of the Arab League’s Arab Women Committee and the preparatory meeting for the 61st session of the United Nation’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) also attended. Aboul Gheit invited Princess Sabeeka to visit the Arab League Headquarters in Cairo to address a meeting comprising delegates of Arab League member states on uplifting status of Arab women.

On her part HRH Princess Sabeeka lauded the progress achieved by the Arab women, stressing the need to highlight it in the next session of CSW. Princess Sabeeka pointed out the importance of Bahrain Women Empowerment Award as an initiative to spotlight the big national strides made in empowering women while praising the royal reform project in this regard.
