Manama : Costs to operate businesses in Bahrain is lower by 34 per cent when compared to Doha and Dubai, stated Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani yesterday.
The minister made the statements while speaking at the “Indian Business Partnership Summit” organised on the sidelines of Gulf Industry Fair 2017, in the presence of Alok Kumar Sinha, Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“Bahrain has always been an oasis of peace over the centuries and has welcomed visitors from all over the world creating a cosmopolitan society that has earned Bahrain first rank in GCC quality of life. The Kingdom enjoys a geographic location in the heart of the Arabian Gulf and puts most GCC capitals within an hour’s flight and road access to the largest market in the GCC,” he said.
“The volume of non-oil trade between India and Bahrain for 2016 was $648 million. Bahrain imported $499m from India while it exported $148m to India,” he said, adding one should not ignore Indian companies manufacturing and conducting trading operations in Bahrain.
The summit aims to promote bilateral trade between India and Bahrain and looks forward to Bahrain companies playing a bigger role in India’s next phase of growth to further build partnerships for mutual business cooperation.
A large number of delegates from energy, solar, oil and gas, real estate, industrial safety and security, financial services, venture capital funds, logistics, ports and maritime, startups, aluminum, manufacturing, industrial metals, academics and research attended the meet.
