Trial in child molestation case on March 5
Manama : The trial of a man accused of kidnapping and molesting a 5-year-old girl will be held on March 5.
Witnesses are summoned to give evidence in the case during the trial. The man allegedly hijacked a vehicle in which the child was occupying at the time her mother left it unattended in Hoora as she went to buy grocery from a cold store.
The accused was traced by police officers from CCTV cameras, and he was eventually arrested and led to the whereabouts of the child.
The defendant’s case was heard yesterday before the High Criminal Court, but he wasn’t brought from his cell.
Thus, the hearing was adjourned until November 28 to bring him. He has been charged with molestation, kidnapping, robbery and hijacking a vehicle.
Interestingly, the defendant was charged with assaulting a cop and possessing drugs with intention to use, meaning that he had assaulted a police officer at the time of his arrest and he was also in possession of drugs.
