New SMC parking garage on the way

Manama : The agony of searching for parking spaces at the country’s main hospital will soon come to an end, according to a top state official.

“The construction of a multi-story parking building at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) will begin within the next four months and the project is expected to complete by the end of 2018,” Health Minister Faeqa Al Saleh confirmed recently.

The BD6 million building which will provide 600 parking spaces for visitors and staff of the congested complex will also include commercial outlets to serve them.

In her reply to the queries of an MP in regards to the long-awaited parking building, Al Saleh said the ministry has signed an agreement last August to construct the facility with Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah), which comes under Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company.

“This project is hoped to be a solution to the lack of parking spaces at SMC. It comes within a set of key developmental projects the ministry is implementing during the upcoming phase. It will sure facilitate the reach to healthcare services to citizens and residents, and contribute to the improvement of medical services in the Kingdom,” Al Saleh added.
