Bahrain Red Crescent to rehabilitate maternal centres in Bangladesh
Manama : Secretary-General of Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS), Dr. Fawzi Amin, has pointed out the BRCS plans to support the reconstruction, maintenance and operation of a maternal and child care centres in Bangladesh.
The move is art of the BRCS ambitious project to support the largest possible number of maternity and child care centres across Bangladesh, where more than 20% of the total population of 160 million are living below poverty line.
Dr Amin and the accompanying delegation have paid a visit to Bangladesh where they learnt about challenges faced by maternal and child care centres and discussed with their Bangladeshi counterpart ways to support them.
Dr Amin said the situation calls for prompt intervention to help uplift the health level of Bangladeshi families, noting the birth rate in Bangladesh is among the highest in the world.
He said the BRCS conveys a message of thanks from the people of Bahrain to Bangladesh for the Bangladeshi community's contributions to Bahrain's economic progress.
