GPIC in record urea export

ManamaThe Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has exported a record 50,000 tonnes of Urea on board the vessel, Ince Tokyo, from the Company’s pier in Sitra, it was announced.

This is the biggest consignment since June 2012, when a consignment was sent to Sudan.

GPIC Managing Director H.E. Ibrahim Al Musaiteer thanked Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and the Board of Directors as well as the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation and the Petrochemical Industries Company of Kuwait for their significant role in marketing the Company’s products around the world. 

In a statement, Dr. Jawahery said the GPIC exports Urea all over the world, particularly to Brazil and the United States, and said these markets are strategically important and have intense competition.

Dr. Jawahery said exports to Brazil in 2016 were more than 348,000 tons, which is the largest amount exported to the country since the start of production. Brazil accounted for 49 per cent of the GPIC’s urea exports, followed by 19 pc for the United States.
