Jail term reduced in drug peddling case
Manama : A Bangladeshi man convicted of smuggling marijuana worth BD30,000 and more than 500 narcotic pills has had his life sentence cut to 10 years, on appeal.
However the court upheld his fine of BD5000, which was confirmed by the Supreme Appeals Court.
The man was arrested after the police officers found the drugs in a package along with spare parts of motorbikes that arrived with his name, from outside the Kingdom.
Prosecutors said that the defendant was a peddler of drugs to Bahrain. The defendant will be expelled from Bahrain once he completes his jail time, which is equal to 25 years.
