World records for Mohammed, White

ManamaEKanoo Racing set a pair of new World Records to headline on  an exciting fourth and penultimate round of the 2016/2017 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship-Arabian Pro Series, held over the weekend at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

Bahraini superstar Khaled Mohammed registered a new world’s best in the Super Street V8 category, while American drag racing icon Gary White matched his teammate’s accomplishment with his own in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder class as both drivers set their new World Records en route to claiming fantastic victories in their respective categories.

Another driver who excelled in the competition was the legendary Steve Jackson of Bahrain1Racing. Popularly known as “Stevie Fast”, Jackson clinched his own fine triumph – second in a row and third of the season – in the highly competitive Pro Mod class.

This round attracted scores of drag racers from around the world as they battled for points, pride and bragging rights along BIC’s world-class quarter-mile drag strip, which is a member of the National Hot Rod Association Worldwide Network.

Also taking place over the weekend was two nights of exhibition runs by the UK-based Jet Funny Car. It was a spectacular show on the strip, and the Jet Funny Car will be returning for a similar performance this coming weekend in the season’s fifth and final run.

In the Super Street V8 category, Mohammed (3.984 seconds) in the final beat Kuwaiti Abdulla Al Shati at a speed of 322.58kph. While setting a new World Record, it was also the first-ever time for a car in this category to dip into the three second-mark, while Al Shati (4.272) at 275.45kph had to settled for second place.

Meanwhile, White (6.494) at 355.49 enjoyed his own record-breaking success in E Kanoo Racing’s stock chassis GT86 in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder class and was done on a 29.5/10.5 tyre with no wheelie bar.

White defeated a valiant Yousif Al Zayani (7.039) who finished second in the class at 324.53kph.
