MPs to discuss rise in immoral activities in the Kingdom
Manama : Bahrain legislators will discuss this week the rise in the number of immoral activities in the Kingdom.
A group of MPs had earlier requested the officials to discuss the issue and the means of combatting it during the next weekly meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, in the presence of Government officials.
The lawmakers said in their request that “the rise in prostitution in Bahrain is sad” and that “many corrupt individuals are benefitting from flesh trade in hotels and furnished apartments in the Capital and neighbouring areas”
“Such activities harm the reputation of the Kingdom,” they said.
“The second article of the Kingdom’s constitution stipulates that Islam shall be the religion of the State, Islamic Sharia a main source of legislation, and Arabic the official language. We must stick to the teachings and morals of Islam and combat this unwanted phenomenon,” the MPs explained.
“This is a matter rejected by the citizens and residents of Bahrain. The country shouldn’t become a nest for such foreign immoral activities. We want to know the official efforts taken by the Government and its strategies to combat prostitution in Bahrain.”
Headed by MP Jamal Dawood, the group consists of MPs Anas Buhindi, Abdulhameed Al Najjar, Mohammed Al Jowder, Ahmed Qarata, Ali Al Ateesh, Mohammed Al Emadi, Mohsin Al Bakri, Ali Al Muqla, Osama Al Khaja, Jamal Buhassan, Dr. Majeed Al Asfoor, Theyab Al Nuaimi, Nabeel Al Balooshi and Ibrahim Al Hammadi.
