Man gets jail for attacking cop
Manama : The High Criminal Court has sentenced a deaf Bahrain man to six months in jail for attacking an on-duty policeman.
The victim is said to have been accompanying police officers assigned to arrest the defendant’s brother. The man reportedly punched the officer’s face as he entered the house.
“We knocked the door, and a woman answered. We asked her to cooperate with the search. She allowed us to enter the house and search for the wanted man. I was suddenly attacked by the defendant, and my colleagues had to intervene to get him off me,” the victim police officer said.
“I suffered severe pains to my right leg,” he added.
The High Criminal Court stated in its ruling that the defendant was given a mercy sentence due to his physical condition.
