Expat man jailed for embezzlement
Manama : The High Criminal Court upheld the imprisonment of an Asian man convicted of embezzling BD67,000 from a Saudi company operating in Bahrain.
The defendant, aged 55, is said to have manipulated company invoices between 2006-2007. The company discovered his misconduct after conducting an audit. His employers found that more than 800 invoices were falsified, and the embezzled money amounted at BD67,000.
According to court files, he also deleted other invoices and tampered the sums recorded in others so as to pocket the money. The defendant was handed down three years behind bars on grounds of embezzling cash from his employers.
