‘Attacks were coordinated in Iran’
Manama: Iranian Revolutionary Guards reportedly trained the members of the busted terror cell for “carrying out terrorist crimes inside the country, it was revealed.
This came into light when the investigators managed to expose one of the cell leaders based in Germany, said Chief of Terror Crime Prosecution Advocate General Ahmed Al Hammadi, adding the person was also responsible for coordinating the travel needs of the cell members.
“He helped members to go to Iran and Iraq to receive explosives and firearms training at the camps of the Revolutionary Guards before performing crimes in Bahrain.”
Iranian hand
Al Hammadi said the suspects who were arrested also revealed about the existence of the terrorist organisation, its structure as well as the way fugitives in Iran and Iraq communicated with its members in here in the Kingdom.
They also confessed to having used ammunition of various kinds that had been smuggled into the country.
“The organisation also provided them with the necessary funds for their livelihood,” Al Hammadi said.
“The organisation provided the members with plans to commit terrorist operations, training to prepare their implementation, weapons and explosives as well as instructions to film the activities with drones to broadcast them for propaganda purposes.”
Leader still at large
Investigators at the Criminal Investigation Department also revealed that one of the leaders, currently in Iran, is continuing his criminal and terrorist activities and plots against Bahrain, Al Hammadi said.
The terrorist, a wanted, has been sentenced in several cases in the Kingdom.
He had assisted many fugitives in Iran and Iraq to form groups and cells in Bahrain that were eventually busted. He also associated with various terrorist groups in Iran and Iraq to set up a terrorist group in Bahrain.
