Expat dies of heart attack during Bahrain transit

Manama: An Indian expatriate from Saudi Arabia died following heart attack during transit at the Bahrain International Airport.

Gurusamy Mookkan, aged 49, died in Bahrain last Friday due to sudden cardiac arrest, as per the death notification from the Ministry of Health here.

He was travelling via Gulf Air flight GF068 from Riyadh and was on his way to India after renewing his Saudi visa, according to social worker Basheer Ambalayi.

Gurusamy is from Kokkadi village in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Sources said he felt chest pain during emigration clearance at airport during transit on Friday and died on the way to King Hamad University Hospital in Muharraq.

The death has been registered with the Indian Embassy and the body will be repatriated to India once the paper works are completed.
