Bahrain bags 48 medals in swimming
Manama : Bahrain made another resounding impact at the 14th GCC Short Course Swimming Championship which has concluded in Doha, Qatar.
The nationals captured 48 medals over the three days comprising 10 gold, 20 silver and 18 bronze amidst stiff competition from the other GCC countries.
Hosts Qatar came out on top with 51 medals, followed by the UAE in second place overall with 42 medals, Bahrain third, Saudi Arabia fourth and Oman fifth.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar as well as Bahrain Swimming Association president Shaikh Mohammed bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and other top sports officials welcomed the team on return.
Askar congratulated members of the team on the achievement and conveyed the greetings of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President.
