Body of baby found inside airport toilet

Manama : A new-born’s body was recently found in the public restroom at Bahrain International Airport. The mother, who disposed of her baby in the garbage bin at the airport minutes after the delivery, suffered health complications in Dubai, where she had to stop for a few hours before travelling to her home country. The Bahraini authorities have issued an international arrest warrant against the woman, in order to continue the investigations into the case in Bahrain. Child and Family Acting Chief Prosecutor Amina Isa stated on Thursday that the Public Prosecution was notified by Bahrain International Airport Police Directorate about detecting a baby’s dead body inside a toilet in the departures hall. “The mother had delivered the baby in one of the toilets in the departure hall. She then placed the baby in a travelling bag and went to a different restroom, where she threw the new-born in the waste bin. Specialised teams from the prosecution moved to the scene, collected evidence and examined the body. The mother suffered health complications in Dubai and she was hospitalised,” the official stated. No further information was available on the identity of the suspect.
