PUBLIC SPEAKING CHAMPION JOSEPHINE LEE IN BAHRAIN

Manama: Division K Toastmasters Bahrain will be host- ing the 2nd Runner up of World Champion of Public Speaking 2016 TM Josephine Lee on 11th March 2017 at Bahrain Conference Centre, Crowne Plaza. She will be joined by Tedx Speaker and her coach TM Munjen Ng . Both are from United States of America. Josephine Lee is an industry leading entrepreneur and an award winning public speaker. Josephine graduated from the University of Southern California in 2010 with a degree in Communication. She was a sports anchor for a student produced nightly newscast called Annenberg TV News. After graduation, she joined Toastmasters International to continue her education in communication. In 2016, she rose above 35,000 contest- ants to win 3rd place in the World Championship of Public Speaking. This etched her in history as the first Korean American woman to place in the final stage. Munjen Ng is a profes- sional product designer holding several design patents and is an award winning public speaker. He joined Toastmasters in 2011 to get over his fear of public speaking and later became the winner of the 2013 Founder’s District International Speech Contest. Since then he has had the honor to speak at TEDX, the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and the Vital Link foun- dation for kids. In 2016 he coached Josephine Lee from the club to the World stage in 6 months and helped her win 3rd place in the Toastmaster International Speech contest. Division K Director TM Thuraya said “I am delighted that Division K Toastmasters Bahrain, will be hosting the 2nd Runner up of World Champion of Public Speaking 2016 TM Josephine lee and her coach and Ted Speaker TM Munjen in Bahrain. This event coincides with World’s Women’s Day which has the topic of ‘Be Bold for Change’ and is committed to helping women achieve their ambitions and to value women and men’s contribu- tions equally. This also aligns with the core values of Toastmasters (integrity, respect, excellence and dedication) and focus on the empowerment of men and women who are supported in their endeavour to achieve their full potential, find the courage to change and ultimately realize their dreams. BAHRAIN FARMERS MARKET

The fifth edition of the Bahrain FarmersMarket isopen attheBudaiya Gardens. More than 40 Bahraini farmers are participating to provide a variety of local agricultural products. Many leading local restaurants will participate to present local food and drinks with the aim of introducing local food to the visitors of various nationalities. Bahrain Farmers Market targets promoting Bahrain’s agricultural products and highlighting the development taking place in Bahrain’s agricultural sector. It also aims to contribute to improving the Bahraini farmers’ income through a marketing system prepared by the Agriculture and Marine Resources to assist in meeting the farmers’ aspirations. The Rotary club of Sulmaniya has a stand in the Farmer’s Market to help the special need children in the process of selling. The vegetables are from a local farm in Jasra in which special needs children were involved in planting and watering. Bahrain Farmers Market will be open every Saturday until April 29 from 8 am to 12 noon.

Qatar-based author Johanna will be signing copies of her thriller, The Burning of Juniper slaide, described as 'a Gone Girl teenagers', as well as talking about her writing process and her experiences in getting her books published. Juniper Slaide is the sole survivor of an arson attack that destroyed her home and killed her family. Nine years later she’s worked hard at put- ting the past behind her. She clings to her best friend James, the only person she’s been able to trust since the fire. But one day James disap- pears. Juniper tries to find her friend, but she uncovers more than she bar- gained for. As tensions grow and friendships are tested, she begins to realise that James wasn’t who she thought he was.
And worst of all, his disappearance is connected to her somehow, and what happened to her all those years ago ... Johanna Handley grew up running around on the beaches of two islands, the Isle of Wight in the UK and the Ile de Re in France. She now lives in Qatar with her husband and four-year old daughter, and spends her time writing and collecting stray animals. She writes with two cats on her desk, a dog at her feet and three birds in her ear. She is currently working on her third novel.
