Emergency exercise at BIA tomorrow

Manama : Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing body and operator of Bahrain International Airport (BIA) has announced that the 15th full scale emergency exercise will be taking place at Bahrain International Airport (BIA), tomorrow at 1:00 am.

BIA hosts a full-scale emergency drill every two years in accordance with the regulations issued by Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs and global industry procedures enforced by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). 

The purpose of this exercise is to put the Airport Emergency Plan to the test and assess the capabilities, readiness and effectiveness of BIA’s emergency and rescue services in dealing with any unfortunate incidents.

Commenting on the BIA 2017 Full Scale Emergency Exercise, Mohamed Yousif AlBinfalah, Chief Executive Officer of BAC said: “We are informing the public in
advance of the emergency exercise so as not to be concerned about the situation and would like to assure them that all necessary steps will be taken by BAC and all the parties involved to ensure BIA’s operations, aircraft and passenger movement are not affected.” 

This year, the emergency scenario will involve actors who will play the part of passengers, some seriously injured and others trapped inside the burning plane. 

The full-scale emergency alert will be activated and called for co-ordination action from Bahrain Airport Company, Civil Aviation Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, Gulf Air, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Information, National Guard and Ministry of Defence, along with other key stakeholders.  

All parties will join force to tackle the mock crisis simulation.
