Ministry portraying real image of Bahrain, says Al Rumaihi

ManamaInformation Affairs Minister, Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, has said that the Ministry is keen on portraying the real image of the Kingdom in the media.

“The Information Affairs Ministry will spare no efforts to portray the Kingdom’s image as a safe country for investment and business as well as dispel the misconceptions promoted by vested interests, he said while responding to questions raised by lawmakers at Council of Representatives yesterday.

Responding to a question by MP Jamal Bu Hassan on the National Communication Centre (NCC), Al Rumaihi confirmed that the strategy is ready but not yet approved, explaining that “it awaits a Royal Decree to form the National Centre for Communication ahead of approval”. NCC will include five directorates, namely the Directorate of Strategic Planning, which is responsible for developing media strategies, the Directorate of Monitoring and Analysis, the Directorate of the Media Office and the Directorate of Communication and Media Relations, which is in charge of building relations with media sides outside Bahrain, he told MPs.

The minister expressed categorical rejection of the attempts made by some parties to make Bahraini media outlets project a negative image of Bahrain through using any incident in a village to say that the situation in the country is unstable.

“The Kingdom enjoys security, safety and stability, and these are the essential prerequisites for strengthening the robust base for attracting investments. This reality cannot be denied, and the proof is the steady increase in the number of  business proposals to obtain investment opportunities in Bahrain,” Al Rumaihi added.
