Police-public partnership a must: Minister

Manama : Strong ties between police and the public are important for law enforcement and to protect security and stability in the Kingdom, Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of Community Partnership Day today.
“More than a decade after launching the day, we can say that the community partnership concept is being further reinforced and represents a concrete example of nationalism emerging out of the loyalty values of the nation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa,” Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid said.
“Bahrain has been pioneers in striving to develop community security services and a new police system in accordance with the requirements of society in order to meet the future needs. Relations between policemen and all segments of society have been reinforced as the presence of security personnel brings the sense of comfort and reflects the cooperation spirit in citizens to satisfy their requirements. This also reinforces the respect for law and order,” the minister said.
“Security is the key for development and the right and responsibility of all. The partnership should lead to cooperation with policemen for law enforcement and response to instructions that could protect the nation as well as reject terrorism that targets innocent people.  Policemen have been praised and appreciated in Majalis (community gatherings), newspapers and social media,” the minister said stressing on the importance of community partnership and the role of policemen in achieving it.
The minister also expressed gratitude and appreciation to all who have supported the partnership between government establishments and Non-Governmental Organisations as well as the efforts of governors to promote community partnership and positive interaction with the residents.
