Hazy, dusty conditions in most part of Bahrain

Manama : Hazy and dusty conditions continued in parts of Bahrain, reducing the visibility to less than 1000m yesterday.

The official weather account of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications - Meteorological Directorate - said that Bahrain and some GCC countries will be affected by a cloudy and rainy weather with showers accompanied by thunder, dust haze and strong winds. The sky will be partly cloudy later tonight with moderate north-westerly winds, it said.

The department has requested the public, especially seafarers, to be cautious, and follow weather bulletins and updates on social media networks. Askar and Zallaq witnessed hailstones yesterday.

People had mixed reactions on social media about the weather conditions.

“Bahrain weather is confusing, I don’t think any app can keep up with the weather at the moment,” Abdulla Almuwada tweeted yesterday.

“If you think your country has weird weather, come to Bahrain in March: Sandstorm+Thunderstorm,” another said.

“It has never rained so much like this here. Not that I’m complaining or something,” a lady said.

Bahrain’s weather is hard to understand.

Rain and extreme dust storm clashed in Bahrain yesterday.

“I thought I have mood swings, but the weather in Bahrain is beating me,” said another comment on social media.

The official weather forecast said that the GCC region, including Bahrain, will be affected by unstable weather conditions from Thursday, with a chance of rain showers accompanied by thunder, kicking up dust and haze in the atmosphere.
