Social activities to go on, says Speaker

Manama Following His Majesty the King’s decision to adjourn the first session of the current legislative term (Shura and Parliament Councils), starting today, Parliament’s Chairman confirmed yesterday that MPs’ and the council’s social activities would continue. As announced on Sunday, “His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued royal decree 33 of 2015, adjourning the first session of the fourth legislative term of the Council of Representatives and Shura Council. The royal order stipulated the adjournment from Tuesday July 7, corresponding to Ramadan 20, 1436 Hijri.” Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla confirmed in a meeting yesterday that the council’s General Secretariat’s community outreach project would continue, aiming at integrating people with the decision making process, spreading parliamentary culture among the public and receiving their feedback and evaluation of the council’s performance. Al Mulla’s statements came while he visited MP Adel Al Assoomy’s Ramadan Majlis in Hoora yesterday, where a number of citizens and residents of the constituency were also present. “Ramadan Majlises are an opportunity to meet citizens and learn their needs and demands. It’s also useful to share with them a clear image about the objectives of the council,” Al Mulla added.
