IS suspect captured in Bahrain
Manama
A group of citizens handed over a suspected Islamic State (IS) terrorist group member to security authorities yesterday.
Together with the mourning activities of the Shia sect that are currently taking place in many parts of the Kingdom, and in line with the stepped up security measures near worship places, a group of citizens caught the suspicious man, while he was spotted in the vicinity of a worship place (Maatam) in Juffair yesterday.
Residents said the man, who was later identified as a Gulf national, was suspiciously monitoring the women’s entrance of the maatam. “A group of the people at the area stopped him and asked him about the reason he’s in the area during such a religious ceremony. Some of them also searched him and found out he had no identification documents on him.
They notified the police after he apparently insulted the beliefs of the Shia sect,” an eyewitness informed. However, a reliable source confirmed to DT News that the man was a Saudi national, who was interrogated and released later. “He approached the people at the gathering, requesting to help him to charge his mobile phone.
They were frightened by his appearance and notified the police. Soon a patrol reached the area and took the man to the police station. No action was taken against him and he was later released, as he didn’t commit any crime,” the source added.
