Get ready for Spartan Race

Manama : Over 7000 people are expected to attend when the XDubai Spartan Race returns to Bahrain next month, organisers said yesterday.
The race, proclaimed as the ‘The World’s Best Obstacle Race’ will be held on April 14. With the whole of Bahrain International Endurance Village in Sakhir as its venue, the race will be bigger and more exciting than last year’s, organizers said. It will include a few surprises, they said. The race will feature ‘Spartan Sprint’, which will be 5+ KM race packed with more than 20 obstacles. ‘Spartan Super’, a 13+ KM race with over 25 obstacles will also be held. Organisers have also confirmed a ‘Spartans Kids’ race for children between the ages of 4 and 15.
“We are bringing new challenges and various surprises. We will not only have the sprint race but also a longer one. Participants can expect to see new obstacles that they have not seen before.” Michael Calahora, a member of the organising committee said during a press conference yesterday.
“We are expecting 7000 people to be there, including the audiences. Since we are expecting more participants and audiences, the venue will be bigger. Last year we had half of the endurance village for the event but this year we will have the whole of the endurance village,” he said.
