Major terror cell busted in Bahrain

Manama: Security forces yesterday busted an Iranian-backed terror cell that plotted to assassinate important senior government and community figures, Ministry of Interior said yesterday.
The Ministry stated that fourteen individuals had been arrested, eleven of whom are suspected of receiving overseas military training under the supervision of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah in Iraq, the Ministry said.
 Those arrested are:
• Hussain Ahmed Abdullah Ali Ali, 27;
• Qassin Ahmed Ali Hassan Al Maliki, 23;
• Ahmed Ali Ali Al Shaikh, 26;
• Ali Abdulrasool Ibrahim Mohammed Abdulhassan, 29;

• Sayed Ali Mohammed Isa Hassan Al Musawi, 32.
The suspects were arrested yesterday, the interior ministry confirmed.
The security operations, which were carried out simultaneously at a number of locations in the Kingdom yesterday, followed wide-ranging intelligence operations that monitored suspects’ travel to Iran on almost 70 occasions during a three-month period.
The suspects were also monitored in Bahrain tracking senior security personnel’s movements and studying target locations, the interior ministry said.
 Security authorities said that materials seized during the operations included automatic weapons, explosives, assembled bombs and bomb-making materials, and that evidence gathered during the raids indicated members of the group in a February bomb blast which injured five on-duty police officers.
Investigations revealed that the extremist group worked under the direct supervision in terms of financing, planning and implementation of attacks by two known extremists: Mortadha Majeed al-Sindi and Qassim Abdullah Ali, both fugitives wanted in several cases and now living in Iran. A number of terrorists wanted in Bahrain are operating from Iran.
Several of those identified and arrested were proven to have received military training in camps under the supervision of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
