Imports hit BD333 million in February
Manama : Bahrain’s value of imports reached nearly BD333 million in February this year while the value of national origin exports reached approximately BD177 million, according to Foreign Trade Report published by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA). The top ten countries accounted for 64 per cent of the imports value and 36 per cent for other countries. Saudi Arabia was ranked as the first country to import from Bahrain with BD45 million, followed by USA with BD35 million and UAE with BD20 million.
As for exported products, aluminum wires emerged as the top products exported in January 2017 with BD26 million; jewellery of gold stood third place for exported products with BD16 million; and agglomerated iron ores and concentrates were positioned second products imported with a value of BD23 million.
Re-exports reached BD47 million. The top ten countries account for 94 per cent of the re-exported value and 6 per cent for other countries. Saudi Arabia was ranked as the first country to re-export from Bahrain with BD17 million, China ranked as the second with BD11 million and UAE as the third with BD8 million.
Four-wheel drive cars emerged as the top product re-exported from Bahrain with BD11 million, cigarettes came as second products with BD5 million and vessels for the transport of goods came as the third with BD4 million.
The top ten countries accounted for 87 per cent of the exports and 13 per cent other countries. China was ranked as the first country that exports to Bahrain with BD40 million; UAE the second with BD34 million; Saudi Arabia was ranked third with BD24 million.
